I, too, was trained for inert atmosphere chemistry. Don’t know what to do with all the inept atmosphere stuff.
If we’re to think in that way, radios are probably the first wireless speakers.
It’s just a huge monitor then - I’m not against the idea, though.
That being said, buses, crowded as they were, were readily available. Taking one in lieu of school buses to school is not unheard of, except that I almost never see someone carrying a bicycle on board.
I remember when I was little I once rode my bike with my dad from one end of the town to another, and my mom carried me to the elementary school among other places on the back of her bike. That being said it was in a mid tier city >25 years ago when ppl didn’t have a lot of cars.
