Think of it this way. If one guy said "that utter rube, Cid Donnelly" & someone else said "Ciddonnelly1, who argues in bad faith", people might not know they were both describing the same person. And while that type of imprecision is fine for social media interactions, its not OK for research

also, leaving the fact that it's entirely not plagiarism, a HS freshman is not going to get expelled for plagiarism outside of like, crazy private schools.

It's amazing how many people believe that, in effect, seeing a sentence like "There were 13 British colonies that formed the United States" repeated in different papers constitutes "plagiarism". All of this nonsense refers to simple descriptions of basic facts, not to anything requiring originality.
