Ngl if I could just pop down and ask for some fentanyl and ketamine and morphine and provigil on demand I'd be pissed about getting thrown out of the white house too
Nothing good, just push America towards Republicans who have been pushing to permanently abolish any foreign aid to Gaza, who want us to stop pushing for any form of peace, who want to abolish labor/environmental laws, who want to ban all abortion, and who want to abolish any form of LGBTQ rights.
With unconditional basic income you could choose to drive a beater to the beach versus a Ferrari to the office but if you want the Ferrari, you're going to need to earn additional income on top of your UBI. With UBI, all who work will have more to spend than all who don't.
And are often NIMBYs that oppose more housing from being built. :/
I think one major issue to progress is the number of actual conservatives that are lumped with the liberals... or even with leftists... They still generally oppose taxes that are big enough to fund ubi and uhc, oppose taxes like land value tax, and don't care as much to push universal health care.
Why should simple existence still be tied to jobs? Many of us spend our lives in jobs we hate, just to stay alive amidst abundance. What if we could live without fear of hunger or homelessness? That's the essence of universal basic income—a basic right to life, regardless of job.
Universal Basic Income as a prerequisite for work, not a reward, resonates profoundly. By securing basic needs, we enable individuals to contribute meaningfully. The idea that income fuels work, not the other way around, challenges conventional wisdom and ignites a more thoughtful discourse on UBI.
UBI is the minimally fair compensation for the loss of the commons that would have been all humans inheritance.

There is an argument frequently made against the concept of unconditional basic income (UBI) that essentially goes like this: "Life requires work. You can't just expect to live without work, and it's ...
Housing people is cheaper than treating the effects of people being unhoused Free school lunches are cheaper than the consequences of children being hungry Free medical care is cheaper than the costs of people being sick Universal Basic Income increases productivity and makes people happy
