THIS. Fighting with people online is not doing the work. Posting is not doing the work unless you're posting to organize people to take specific action to protect the vulnerable and/or put pressure on the political process.
I sincerely hope my friends who wanted this were right, and I sincerely hope I'm wrong about everything I think is going to happen next.
Here's the thing: Trump *is* an authoritarian who wants to destroy democracy. This isn’t a smear, it’s a fact. That Trump got shot doesn’t change the necessity of him being defeated at the ballot box, nor does it absolve him of his past misdeeds.
Political violence is wrong. And Trump is the candidate of political violence.
Trump is supposed to be a strongman. They can’t pull the sympathy card for too long. This is no big deal to him, right?
Just a reminder: it’s good to oppose assassinations. But you are under absolutely no obligation to treat Trumpists and Trump-apologists as people who are honest, or acting in good faith, when they purport to condemn political violence or violent rhetoric. They’re not sincere.
