I haven't looked into it seriously so I don't even know what I'd need. Nothing too big, I guess? The only time I ever really think about it is when the power is out, which is not an ideal time to say "hey let's go online and learn about generators."
Whole house generators are a whole different thing, but really you probably just want one of the small ones? Probably has wheels. Just the cheap-ish one from Harbor Freight will do ya fine to run a fridge and a few other things via a few extension cords.
