Five and a half years is no joke, but one of the stupidest things about "Jan 6-ers are getting sentenced too harshly" nonsense is that if you, random citizen, walked up to a couple of cops on the street and spent a couple of hours beating them with a metal pole, you'd go away for a lot longer.

Just for the sake of argument -- A black man was seen beating a cop over the head with a metal pole what the sentence would be, assuming said same black person made it to the courtroom?
