I don’t think people would articulate it as wanting decentralization, but there are absolutely values of alternate models that are broadly appealing to far more than 1% of users. Every single business user likes their email list better than their social followers.

I have to be honest for the outsiders like me maybe this is something I would want but when experts talk about federation and decentralization I just simple do not understand the conversation. And I have tried to. There's a comms issue here for normies.

whatever % of users care about the underlying infra, it's a small minority for aspirin mass platforms. also everything that sounds positive about decentralized networks has negative implications too... and it's all just theory as of yet as to how it'd work out at scale.
