Happy St Deiniol’s Day! St Deiniol was first Bishop of Bangor and gave his name to St Deiniol’s Church in Hawarden and its Library neighbour. My SCONUL traineeship was as St Deiniol’s / National Library of Wales trainee, so St Deiniol will always have a special place in my heart and my calendar.
Where’s the best place you’ve ever written? It’s going to take a lot to beat my early morning writing spot ten years ago at Canterbury Cathedral Lodge, where I was staying ahead of the Cataloguing and Indexing Group conference at Canterbury University. #amwriting#cataloguerlife#tenyearsago
Yesterday marked 5 years since I gave my first pro bono workshop as Beginning Cataloguing. That means all the big five year marks are coming up, with the main one being at the end of March. Thanks to Seema Rampersad for the photo. #beginningcataloguing#beginningcataloguingtraining

Last chance to register for online attendance at the CILIP Metadata & Discovery Group AGM on Wed 4th Sept at 2pm. Feat. an exciting talk from Hannes Lowagie of KBR on #AI#automatedcataloguingcilip.org.uk/events/Event...#libraries#metadata#cataloguing#MDGAGM2024
8 years ago Sam Winston was our after dinner speaker at CIG 16. The CIG is now MDG (the Metadata and Discovery Group). Looking forward to a talk on AI by Hannes Lowagie at our AGM on Wednesday. In an ever-changing world the joy of meeting up with other cataloguers is a happy constant.
I'm old enough to remember when a computer didn't automatically connect to the internet, it used to make a screaming noise. We should have listened.
I believe in you. It always takes librarians to change libraries (the organisation I was in was a big health one, so the folks in charge were medics, which I think made them ahead of the game in understanding the health costs and how that led to staffing costs and therefore £££ to them).
Was at the festival to hear @annewelsh.bsky.social reading her brilliant winning poem on the Pen-to-Print stage.
