We need a bigger public discussion about how much policy needs to shift to EVs, most particularly the impact of their weight. Road taxes/charges, investment in road infrastructure, more stringent speed limits and tougher particulate emissions regulations all necessary whilst phasing out petrol.

We need road taxation to relate to the pothole causing effect of axle loading. The fourth power rule applies. Ideally on a mileage basis, as with petrol taxation.
