I remember the Old Internet encounters between the Aubrey/Maturin fans who were middle-aged gents with a Napoleonic-era navy fixation, and the Aubrey/Maturin fans who were young lasses with a thing for rum, sodomy and the lash. They were mutually bemused by each other's favourite ships.

I really enjoyed the action and drama of the movie as-is, but ngl I feel a tiny bit cheated of all the intrigue Maturin was involved in. Oh, and getting to see Diana.
