Pregnancy is calculated starting on the first day of your last period. So this Iowa law means you can't obtain an abortion if your next period is 2 weeks late. Iowa also forces you to have two appointments and then wait 24 hours before getting the abortion

Clearly unconstitutional to force a *religious* belief of when life begins onto others.

I am pregnant right now via IVF. Because of that I have a VERY accurate timeline on when I got knocked up. My last period was Jan 19. They didn't transfer the embryo until Feb 12 (34 days later) and 1st pos test was 10 days later. 2 more to confirm. That's 46 days in for a pos test - 6.5 weeks

That so many people don’t know this calculation is always surprising to me. It’s not just men who choose ignorance of all things pertaining to “women’s stuff.” This fact needs to be shared far & wide.

And periods are two weeks late sometimes! People's periods aren't always regular or predictable. As someone who was tracking pretty obsessively for a number of years trying to conceive, even a very consistent cycle can fluctuate 10 days without medical concern.

Lots of OB offices won’t even see you that early to confirm a pregnancy. They know what they’re doing. I hate them.

Why can't OB/GYNs just say "that's a really stupid way to count when pregnancy commences and we are not going to do that anymore"?

I got my implant taken out and my period was over two months late, and then lasted a single day, and then I didn’t have another for over a month again. Why not just come out and say they are banning it outright and stop pretending these hoops they require people to jump thru are based on any reality
