I have resisted saying this, but y'all won't shut up about it: no Black candidate for national office is going on camera to eat fried chicken (hot or otherwise) for the white gaze. A lot of you do not understand the minefield Black professionals navigate to establish authority & preserve dignity.

In the 90s black families were only seen eating in pizza commercials and KFCs had only middle class white people in theirs. At the time I suggested race relations could be improved by changing the term for black people to "Italian-Americans" but this failed to gain mindshare.

Honestly had not considered the implications of the particular dish, thanks for pointing that out.
