I have a virtual machine crunching away on them sequentially now, it started on the biggest archive last night (2.2tb or so) and it's still restoring files beginning with "a" note: the vm isn't on the nas itself because freebsd jail mounts confuse me, so it's gigabit at best!

2021 me: let's make every single full backup a squashfs archive to save space! 2024 me: painstakingly unsquashfs'ing my many backups so I can see what's even in them now that my storage is networked with extremely cursed ACLs can't believe I have to live with the consequences of my past decisions
