If someone asked me to write a piece about why the gender divide is such a noticeable feature of our politics, #1 is reproductive rights and misogyny, but well before I'd get to "male loneliness" I'd do "men are socialized to believe they should always feel important and never feel shame"

If you're curious why everybody's username is a domain, it's because every user is essentially a website

I enjoyed hanging at airports pre pandemic, but now I minimize my time there because I’m hyper aware that I might get sick before I even start my trip

Hi new Bluesky users. Semi-annual reminder to follow my favorite part of this website: the Gift Links feed. It shows any free link to an otherwise paywalled article that’s shared by anyone on Bluesky. It has legit changed how I read the news. bsky.app/profile/did:...

It’s so funny and noticeable how only left leaning spaces get called “echo chambers.” Only left wing people get told we need to learn to see other people’s perspectives and understand their motivations. Do conservatives want to be understood, or do they want to dominate conversations?

the NYT sees its audience as bougie libs, so they don’t feel an obligation to help inform low-info voters, they feel an obligation to inform bougie libs *about* low-info voters

There's a lot to this. Folks inevitably live their lives inside a mentally-constrained model of what society *is*; what it can do; how it changes. For most folks, war, civil unrest, depositism, mass-detentions etc are things that happen to other people on the same screens that you watch fiction on.

Alex Proyas, the director of the 2004 movie "I, Robot"

Alex Proyas on Twitter: Hey Elon, Can I have my designs back please? #ElonMusk #Elon_Musk

With graphics that show how Tesla's designs for the robot, "robovan" and cybercab are all identical to the designs from his movie

It’s much for difficult for dems but possible for them to find something that breaks through, like “weird”. They’re in the tank for Trump but they do still respond to incentives when attacks like that drop, which causes them to repeat the attacks over and over while complaining that they aren’t fair
