in my 20s I hung up my own art all over my room, and once I had a friend come over and she judged my room. saying 'isn't it narcissistic to hang up your own stuff?' I just stared at her flatly and asked her why other people have more claim to admire my work than I do when I was the one who made it
the only reason I don't hang up stuff now and I live with bare walls is because after living a life where you move apartments seemingly every 2-5 years you get really god damn lazy about that kind of thing
I kept myself from celebrating my art out of fear of someone saying just that, probably because of someone saying just that at some point. Too old for that kind of worry any more, it's cool to love your own art
When I decided I was going to practice drawing more (~2006,) I went through years of making monitor wallpapers out of whatever I thought was my "new best". I haven't printed out many bc ink's expensive, but yeah. I wanna see it, to keep enthused! Even if everything I sketch anymore is porny.
Point made...
I hang up my own fanart posters, I made them because it was a poster *I* wanted!!! If other people like it, fine, but it was for me!
At its core, it’s just diy decoration. what’s the big deal???
