Had lunch today in Little Rock with the talented economist @horp.bsky.social, who also sported the shirt that's de rigeur for Natural State intellectuals

The VP debate is later tonight. Why not read a mini-profile on each of the candidates before all the fun begins? First up is @aselrod.bsky.social on Tim Walz. Elrod explores the organizing concept behind Walz's approach to politics and governing: being a good neighbor.

Tim Walz Isnā€™t a Radical, Heā€™s a ā€˜Neighborā€™

Neighborliness is the Democratic VP nomineeā€™s response to MAGAā€™s nativist and exclusionary politics

Brilliant short profile from @aselrod.bsky.social@theunpopulist.net that uses Walz's emphasis on *neighborliness* as the organizing principle behind his politics. Really well done.

there are so many disheartening things about our current political moment but I do think one of the biggest ones is that these extremely-thirsty-for-attention right-wing conservatives do not feel any obligation to THEIR LITERAL CONSTITUENTS

A mistake that leads into nonvoting or third-party voting is: viewing AVITPE as metaphysically encompassing one's entire political identity, instead of viewing it as merely one opportunity to make a marginal difference in the ex ante probability of one particular binary choice of an officeholder.

The only effect that A Vote In This Presidential Election (AVITPE) can have is tipping things a little toward Harris or a little toward Trump. Actions other than AVITPE can have other effects on our world, but AVITPE itself only does that one thing. www.liberalcurrents.com/elections-ar...
