Growing up in India , a treat at home would be 'malai' (cream skimmed off non-homogenized milk on boiling & cooling) & strawberry jam on toast. Recreating it has been hard - clotted cream has proved an unworthy alternative. Today I cracked it - fromage frais and strawberry jam for the win !
