The media moved to the assassination attempt as blanket coverage in part to move the Trump campaign (who they're trying to help) off the loser "eating pets" story. The more the Trump campaign fails the more the media feels obligated to step in to set them on the right path bsky.app/profile/cmer...

CNN's front page was literally covered in it yesterday, a small box for Vance's appearence on CNN's own sunday show was the only other story above the fold. Youtube's "BREAKING NEWS" chumbox was exclusively "assassination attempt" stories last night (I basically never watch political videos on YT)

Take note how much a "stopped at the gate" assassination attempt - the type that normally merits only a passing mention, as the u-haul attempt on Biden in 2023 did - has dominated the news and pushed discussion of Trump's failure in the debate and competency totally out of the news.
