How bleak is that those of us in our 30s to 40s lived through the peak of human innovation where robots and the internet served our needs instead of just trying to sell us poorly made products and even worse ideologies that were designed by their billionaire owners? That was it. It's fucking over.
It's only over if you say it's over. Don't! The challenge is to make use of digital technologies in ways that are unauthorised, uncontrolled and unpredicted, to undermine the billionaires. It is not at all obvious how to do this, but I think it's possible. There will be unshielded exhaust ports.

I think most of us saw the end of human civilization as some intense battle between climate and humanity. Storms raging. Wildfires spreading. It might still be, but it's going to be a hell of a lot dumber.
