WTF Microsoft? When you type (London) into MS Teams it converts it to a rain cloud emoji 🌧️. This is international bullying! I mean, it might be true right now… but a bit rich given Seattle gets about 50% more rain than London

Lots of criticism of Starmer’s approach to Europe. But seems to me a pretty neat negotiating strategy where in return for things like an SPS agreement (good, and beneficial to UK), we have to accept a youth mobility scheme (also good and beneficial to the UK). Win-win, albeit long way to go

We tend to forget that people have always had kids in their 30s or later (before the pill, anyway). It’s just that traditionally they’d have been the last of many kids. Rather than the first and only kids

Mayoral Development Corporation for Oxford Street to oversee pedestrianisation

I like your framing. It’s a good counterpoint to “these homes don’t help anyone, no-one can afford them” line you often get from objectors

It’s hard to distinguish sarcasm on social media :) but taking your comment at face value, the answer is absolutely not! Build a few million expensive homes for those that can afford high prices, and the rest of us would no longer be competing with the wealthy to live in the existing housing.

What is common knowledge in your field, but shocks outsiders? Building “luxury flats” helps those who can’t afford them They’re only “luxury” in sense all housing is expensive Buildings funded by overseas buyers don’t end up empty Gentrification happens anyway, not caused by new homes

Would also love the ability to add *private* notes/reminders to other accounts (like you’d scribble in your address book) - why did I follow this person - who is this account - this person was rude, block them if they do it again etc

Since everyone’s making starter packs, here’s one from me - some of the urban economists and economic geographers on here. This is just people I know, so please LMK below if I’ve missed anyone. #EconSky#geoskygo.bsky.app/DpxtxXn

Not defending that picture, which is a disgrace. But there's a flipside if used properly. From personal experience (struggle walking with arthritis, but can cycle easily - which is quite common), Lime an absolute lifeline for accessibility Solution has to be loads of designated bays and enforcement
