95 with no AC and I'm melting and dreading the thought that I've acclimated.

"This is why voting is a shared, communicative activity." Damn straight. You don't vote for YOU, you vote for US. Changing that shared responsibility into a personal consumer-style choice is a mistake that generally shocks me.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard has gone gold! 27 days till release 💜🐺🐉

An image of the skeletal character Manfred from Dragon Age: The Veilguard. In place of his usual green crystal goggles are two golden discs.

In large print, the words "GONE GOLD" appear above his head.

I keep coming back to Paxton’s definition of fascism.

What Is Fascism?
The moment has come to give fascism a usable short handle, even though we know that it encompasses its subject no better than a snapshot encompasses a person.
Fascism may be defined as a form of political behavior marked by obsessive preoccupation with community decline, humiliation, or victim-hood and by compensatory cults of unity, energy, and purity, in which a mass-based party of committed nationalist militants, working in uneasy but effective collaboration with traditional elites, abandons democratic liberties and pursues with redemptive violence and without ethical or legal restraints goals of internal cleansing and external expansion.

There's something magical about having a park that is heavily used by a diverse group of folks nearby. Folks sunbathing, kids playing, friends gathering on a picnic blanket...it's like the vibes of a good coffee shop, only free to use and with far more grass / space / people.
