There’s something to be said about how the media we consume can bleed into our perception of reality. Fiction without hope and dripping with unrestrained cynicism has its place, but if we don’t imagine a better world than we won’t build one.

Mine was Harry Dresden actually, my first introduction to both urban fantasy and modern noir. The Dresden files have their problematic elements, but Harry remains a fond memory of mine. Even though he's been far surpassed by another Harry, "Tequila Sunrise" or Harry Dubois.
