I'm so glad bluesky feels alive now I actually have a reason to use it
Keep creating, drawing, writing, etc. And keep that excitement alive when you show off what you made. People always say that they are their own worst critic. But you should also strive to be your own biggest fan. Don’t rely on others to keep going. The best motivation should come from yourself❤️
Be confident with what you create! Acknowledge that you can improve in places, but always be PROUD of what you show to people and never downplay your own abilities or work! You, like everyone else, are LEARNING! And that is never something to be embarrassed about!
Even small comments like: “It’s silly but…” “The background is terrible but…” “The characters are weird but…” These comments about your own work just serve to give yourself an excuse if they don’t like something. But they also setup the expectation to THEM that YOU don’t like it!
Some of the best advice a friend of mine gave me when writing: “Never talk bad about your own work, even if you’re embarrassed. How can you expect people to be excited about something you’ve created if even YOU aren’t?” I’ve never forgotten it and I apply it to everything I make now, even drawing
It's crazy how being in the right atmosphere changes your mindset. I've been scrolling for an hour looking at art and not once have I felt dreadful, wasting my time or defensive over when I'll see the next negative take. It's so peaceful and motivating. All this is making me wanna draw now!!
