Even small comments like: “It’s silly but…” “The background is terrible but…” “The characters are weird but…” These comments about your own work just serve to give yourself an excuse if they don’t like something. But they also setup the expectation to THEM that YOU don’t like it!

Be confident with what you create! Acknowledge that you can improve in places, but always be PROUD of what you show to people and never downplay your own abilities or work! You, like everyone else, are LEARNING! And that is never something to be embarrassed about!
