Started casually/sporadically texting with an old high school friend. It was nice. I have not seen her since high school. I suggested we have coffee. She told me she's reluctant to meet me because "I've gotten so old." She literally does not want me to *see* her. This reaction has saddened me.

Ugh. I feel like you should should gently insist upon the truth that to get older is to get better, but I can’t say that it’s necessarily the right thing to do.
