The framing of folks on social assistance (especially black women on welfare) as being lazy and entitled is so fucked up to me, and yeah I know it comes from racism, but like, also, as someone on a form of social assistance (disability) it's sooooo relieving to have income stress eased or removed.

So relieving to the point that it makes me more functional. I'm still not able to work a normal or even part time amount but I am more stable and making "contributions to society" (not that I need to do this to have worth) in other ways. And most folks I know on welfare & etc. are eager to get off.
