As you know I'm absolutely in favour of folks buying dogs from reputable breeders as long as the breed is healthy (done the same myself). The moment I see someone picking up something like a pug, dachshund or a roachback german sheperd as a puppy I'm in full judgement mode.

and whoever thought they needed to make toy breeds of everything I want to have serious words with. I know regular dachshunds were initially hunting dogs (Hence the name badger hunter in German), however the 'toy' breeds are treated like that, and they don't deserve those lives

My mom has a maltese rescued from a breeder who was going to “discard” her because she could not have puppies anymore…I can assure you i am not buying a dog ever.

if you’re breed loyal (we are saint bernard people; well, i am by marriage), breed rescue groups are a great resource. we’ve also adopted 2 siamese cats (rip chloe & tabitha) from breed rescue in the past.

My dog is a purebred Chiweenie. Weenie dog and a chihuahua. He had worms and we fixed him up. He also displays signs of PTSD. But he's hyper, fat, spoiled, and clingy. Has taken to climbing on my shoulder recently and has been careful of my pregnant belly. 🥺 I love the lil dumbass.
