Looking for direction from #EconSky on extensions of the Mundlak and within-between type models to estimators based on things like random forests, deep neural networks, and generalized additive models, and also GLMs.

Also interested in this... one of the first "ML tricks" I picked up was "target encoding" and it does seem to be a mundlak-like feature creation approach.
