Adults want animation. Adults want comics. I have to hope that as the old guard falls away and gives way to newer generations more of those kinds of projects will get pushed and funded. We’ve seen it before and I just can’t wait to see more. An entire medium shouldn’t be relegated to one demographic
Animation: celebrating 120 years of being “not just for kids anymore”.
And I am tired of companies taking them off of streaming services without giving us options to purchase.
Animation is such a versatile medium, and honestly, it's always been way more visually appealing to me. I have an appreciation for things like makeup and practical effects, but liveaction as a whole is just.. eh. If I want to see a real life human I can just look in the mirror, you know?
It's easier to suspend disbelief with a comic or cartoon. When you're being presented with fantastic concepts, seeing them as static or kinetic illustrations helps you buy into them mentally and let's you get more invested in them.
Watching Scavengers Reign get cancelled by HBO after an incredible first season was just a major blow. Watching Zach Snyder get multiple mulligans for his uninspired, low-rated scifi over the same period really added to the bum out.
I'll keep saying it: Sci Fi and Fantasy books/comics should be made into animated adaptations as a matter of course.
