the sad part of this is people are still dying with covid and we all move on as though its normal.. no more interventions, no more caring about those most at risk and the continuation of the destruction of our public health system, just sad, www.rnz.co.nz/news/nationa...

That's incorrect if most voters are voting according to tribe (party) rather than according to quality or reason. I've observed this phenomenon. I choose to vote accordingly, and the "assumption" of viability is far more reliable now than it was when the Constitution was written.

However, I am a dual national. I voted for Sanders in the Democratic primaries and then for Williamson. But in the General, I understand the binary nature of the ballot. It isn't tribal for me; it is logical.

I'm just trying to point out the logic of your situation. If you want the non-voters to vote, you need better media, better choices, and real choices. Getting people to "change tribes" just helps the worst choice. I AM a Green... in New Zealand. I changed COUNTRIES to get the ability to vote Green.

Because it does not help. With FPTP, the decision is made between the two parties closest to a majority, not the two best candidates. Your logic has 3 choices: the bad, the worst, or neither. Your vote in FPTP has only 2. It just sucks "neither" into the bin you call "worst." They aren't the same.

Good news: Mexico and Iceland have brand new women presidents and both are climate hawks! No surprise, since research consistently shows women leaders are more likely to support climate action, clean energy, and sustainability. More please!

To fight climate change, more female leaders are fundamental
To fight climate change, more female leaders are fundamental

The EIB Climate Survey asks whether the fight against climate change would be more effective if we had more female leaders. Women think so. Many men disagree.

Those of us who say that are voters — not non-voters. Nobody knows how to get the non-voters to vote or how they would if they did. Most votes are cast by people who vote according to which tribe they are in. They won't change. We lose every time we allow idealism to guide our thinking.

I agree, but not about how to vote in a First Past The Post election. In FPTP, a vote for someone who should be President but cannot win is effectively a vote for someone who should NEVER be President. The 2 parties like it that way. I'd vote for her in a heartbeat if the electoral system allowed

Yeah, basically just your average deranged engineer out of the Jet Propulsion Lab. Apologizing for butting in, but agreeing heartily that humans are basically good.
