This Bernie Mireault stuff is hitting me hard because I know so many great cartoonists who deserve success, but can't find their niche in our current system. They should be celebrated, not picking up extra shifts at Golden Corral. We have to keep weirdness alive in comics or it will abandon us.
When I was crowdfunding the Dishman trade paperback, Bernie was also funding a Jam collection, and he collaborated with John MacLeod on this scene with the Jam and Dishman for a bit of indie comics cross pollination. Rest in peace, Bernie.
So sad to hear of Bernie Mireault's passing. It sounds like he had been going through an extremely difficult time. I never knew him personally, but always admired his work.
