All of my recent cats (4) have been adopted from my vet. My cat passed away in 2018 (I had him when I was 20, he was 8wks old, I brought him with me from Australia). Both Buoy and Musette were at least 6yo when I got them so our time was short, but even if they were babies it wouldn't be long enough

I also find it sad that black kitties often get left behind too ;( they're so beautiful

That is the hallmark of someone that genuinely cares for animals. Most folks want to adopt tiny kittens and disregard the cat sleeping in the enclosure feet away... That was how we got buddy. He got returned twice and was fully grown...like first time returned after a year.
