It's really good to see this being recognized and talked about - there's historically been a huge lack of empathy for people who don't evacuate because people assume they're all being stubborn, even though anyone who lives in the US knows how few resources so many people here have.

my heart breaks for the disabled, incarcerated, impoverished & elder folks of the south without the means to evacuate. as a disabled poor person, i have reoccuring nightmares of being stranded in climate-change driven disasters & i can only imagine the fear & anger these communities must feel.
