I would be interested if anyone else has examples of this because this is a very intentional attempt to decouple the weekend from Labor Day and the meaning of Labor Day. in fact, this appears to be a very clear escalation of corporate dominance and their erasure of reality.

I've never in my life seen any store or refer to their sale at this time of year as The Long Weekend Sale rather than the Labor Day sale.

To be fair, the US Labor Day is already decoupled from the rest of the world who celebrate it on May 1st because the politicians at the time didn't want it associated too strongly with the labor movement because SoCiAlIsM!1!
