Quiet house again. Mrs B is on an early shift at the school helping out at the breakfast club. Daughter and boyfriend have set off on their three day road trip to Lisbon, heading to France for the night via Woking to see our eldest en-route for lunch. Little bit sad seeing them off this morning.

Ony 10K? Blimey!
Thought things had improved with my 1.2 Nova with electronic ignition. Still a spinny thing with a hall effect sensor in it, if memory serves. Worked fine, then the transistor that boosted the signal failed. Unlike points it was an all-or-nothing-with-no-warning failure. The march of progress. Sigh.
Ah I remember all that with my Mk2 Escort. And helping my dad fix cars on the drive as a kid. Never seen them fail like that though!
It’s also why it must not fail. There must be terabytes of stuff that is rare or one-off that is not of great commercial importance yet is valuable in a personal/historical context.
That’s fabulous!
The Internet Archive is a fabulous resource. Lots of old computer magazines and books archived on there, most out of print, many difficult and/or expensive to purchase used. It would be more than a shame if it were to close.
Hope everyone gets a chance to read this one today. My colleague Kate Knibbs visited the Internet Archive IRL. It’s in grave danger. www.wired.com/story/intern...
The web’s collective memory is stored in the servers of the Internet Archive. Legal battles threaten to wipe it all away.
Kid's got taste. I like that!
