Been thinking about the rumor that artists don't like getting comments my conclusion is we like genuine comments, we don't like trolls and people using our posts as set-ups for jokes. No one is going to be begrudge you if you are sincere in giving a compliment.
yeah wait who has been saying that. We love when people look at our work. Like... literally anyone... we don't like when people are jerks.
Does it matter if the comment is "Nice art!" Or would you prefer more substance "Nice art, I like the colors!"
It's just too mentally taxing to respond to every comment, there's a reason I'm an artist and not a community manager
Caught me off-guard with the jokes part. Do people hate attempts at humor in general (cringe upstaging?) or is this a specific approach to it that rubs the wrong way?
