(IQ science is eugenicist bullshit but I also know my IQ, which came with a little plus sign next to it to show that was as high as those particular tests went at that particular time, and weaponize it against misogynists and racists every way I can)
I only ever had my IQ tested once when I was in primary school as part of the accursed Gifted Kids stuff and my parents would never tell me the results. Looking back this was absolutely the right decision because a Grade 2 kid is going to make everyone around them miserable with that information
130 something years ago, but I was in high school or college then, I can't remember. You probably wouldn't know it from my college grades though 🫠🫥 Regardless it was and probably is far higher than any of theirs ever will be; as long as that bunk persists I'm happy to hang it over their heads.
In 1970s LI, they created “gifted” programs for kids who scored >130 on IQ tests. Then, parents “Please let me talk to the manager”ed to get their kids included. The only thing I learned from my participation was that I did not learn anything from the so-called “gifted” I didn’t already know.
took some tests when i was pretty young. don't think i ever heard a number - the idea was i could start skipping grades once i got settled in at elementary school. i was very shy and didn't want to, and my parents were cool about that. i'm glad they understood that developing socially was big, too.
My dad used to give me some of those tests, maybe Wechsler? when he was interning before getting his PhD in psych. My mom made him cut it out, I think, lol.
I never took an IQ test, but I was one of those kids who skipped a grade and took the SATs in middle school. 100% agree. For people in the Thiel-Musk group, “genius entrepreneur” just means “able to harness sociopathic techniques to make money.”
