I’m very funny, in a “I cheerfully bought Parable of the Sower and I knew roughly what it was about but I started reading it and now I’m sitting here like this one day into reading it wondering why I feel dead inside” kind of way

A man sitting on a sofa with a beer in hand, staring dully into empty space. The image evokes a feeling of dread, ennui, and the sense of being overwhelmed by too much bullshit.

That book made me legitimately consider buying and learning how to use a gun. Transformative literature.

I reread it last year for the first time since high school and my mom saw it on my goodreads, read it for the first time, and then got mad at me because it's...what it is. Anyway. It's a brilliant book and it sure hits different now than when I was 15.
