Scientists often talk about how the bar is increasingly raised in grant review. YET, we get/give reviews that say "The Broader Impacts are outstanding, but largely filled by existing programs." WE can stop this. Outstanding is outstanding--we don't have to keep asking for NEW and HIGHER.
I'm just hoping the weather doesn't throw us too many "false floods" that aren't part of the experimental design!!
