Have you looked at the demands the protestors have? Divestment is a central one. Hell one university resolved their encampments problem by agreeing to listen to the students at a scheduled board/trustee meeting and agreeing to vote on divestment. Not even promising to do it.

I'd also add, that wanting the school to divest from Israel and companies that benefit from the war (arms manufacturers) does not require the students to know the nature of the universities investments or the usual process of changing them. Which is why they're protesting the way they are.
