Just this week I bought a massive hunk of ground beef instead of buying fast food to fill a burger craving. It just made more sense to spend like $25 on 5 pounds of meat than $10 on a single burger on it’s own.
It absolutely is my favorite of the 2D Zelda games, I think it's going to draw some favorable comparisons to Breath of the Wild. I really hope we get another 2D Zelda with this kind of scope and ambition sometime soon.
There are a few places the game still needs a little polish, but nothing ever outright glitched or broke on me. Just a few poorly tutorialized mechanics, minor pathing issues, and Zelda can easily get caught up in a gaggle of minons and have to wait for the game to unstuck her automatically.
CW: Spoiler talk about the last fight I never stopped wanting to have some basic attack skill as Zelda. This was exacerbated in the final boss fight where I was mostly waiting for my minions to hit things for me while dancing around the damage. It was a good fight though. Link's AI needs a patch.
That said, it also had some really great character stuff I know people are going to love. So it's not all bad.
I think people don't realize what an endorsement is. If I shove these games in front of my partner, neither of them are farming sims, RPGs, or deck builders, both are flag-humping military shooters but Bad Company is lighter in tone and shoots less brown people. "I don't wanna play either of them!"
That's something I really like about Echoes of Wisdom, even though Nintendo did decide Zelda can't do direct combat because of a weird devotion to chauvinist gender roles, it doesn't feel like a side game. They put their whole ass into it.
I generally prefer the 2D Zeldas, and unless this game absolutely falls apart before the end it is handily the best in the series in my mind. I’m already a little worried I’m getting near the end because I want more of it. At least a new game+ with infinite swordmaster mode.
Please enjoy Extra Miniature Hubris, from the day I helped round up her litter at my old workplace! found them stashed in a neighboring back yard! after catching the whole lot my coworker fostered them, she got them all spayed/neutered and adopted out including the momcat.
Gobsy, were you up all night playing Neopets?
