It’s still really hard to talk about this (I have written about it), but I’ve gone through this twice, in a way—was unable to help my dad enough; was able to help my mom but would have eventually gone broke. There was a terrible moment when I realized we had enough for her to die on, but not live on.

91% of abortions are in the first trimester. Just 1% of abortions are at/after 21 weeks. 9th month abortions are not a thing. Anyone who says otherwise is lying through their teeth.

As a Swiftie who likes to hyperfocus, my best productivity hack is to put the Eras Tour on and jam on a paper for the 3.5 hour duration.

Okay I have officially deactivated my account on the other, increasingly terrible site. Glad academia seems to have moved over here. Although is anyone else considering threads? Would then need to make a professional insta I fear

Just chiming in to say that I love this discussion and I think the shrug emoji is the only correct prediction for how it will play out. Also I would include some consequential examples of how agencies use regulatory power (e.g. Social Security disability determination)

Burdens accessing tax benefits are highly inequitable. Your employer based health insurance subsidy is automated, earnings reporting from your salaried job is automated. Low-wage workers face an array of obstacles, which you don't, to access the growing pool of benefits distributed through the IRS

Big day: I officially accepted an offer to join the faculty of the Sandra Rosenbaum School of Social Work at UW-Madison next fall. Feels totally unreal to write. Faculty?! Me?! But I'm so excited, so honored, so humbled by the privilege it is to do this work.
