Ah, yeah, I've got issue 2 in the pile for tomorrow and I see that's a Laura-heavy issue. Does make me think her getting a new ongoing might alter the shape of this book a bit.

(I do also like how the first page explanatory blurb draws a direct line from the original X-Force's original lineup, the ex-New Mutants, to this new incarnation -- a reminder that the title, that LOGO, has a history.)

Basically this whole "all the Megalopolis showtimes vanished days before release at the local cinema" thing keeps getting weirder.

Wondering now if the fact that I was the only person in the theater for that was A. the norm over the last week and B. therefore, the reason they decided, ehhhhhh, maybe this town won't be up for Coppola's banana-pants self-indulgent turkey.

I wonder then if some exhausted programming person (or algorithm) has been shuffling screenings at the absolute last minute. It's funny, I went to the final screening in town of The Substance yesterday and there it was, a trailer for Megalopolis, which I assumed we were still getting.

If I'm being honest with myself, I think this is neck-and-neck with DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE of all things as my favorite movie of the dozen or so things I've seen in the theater this year, and at the moment it has the edge because A. raging feral Demi Moore, and B. Margaret Qualley in pink spandex.

Literally walking to the theater right now for the last showing in town. Guess between the Howl's Moving Castle re-release, The Wild Robot, & (oh geez) Megalopolis there's no room for a 2nd weekend of The Substance here. (Was genuinely stunned it was here to begin with when I checked this weekend.)

Oh, in a world where bad/meh RoboCop outnumbers good, I'm deffo going to wait for more details to emerge (premise, writers, actor playing RoboCop, reboot or continuation, etc.) before I allow myself to get interested/excited. (Did just buy that recent PS5 game that actually has Peter Weller in it.)

Like, this crappy dad who has clearly forsaken his humanity (won't go with his daughter to remember his wife on an important anniversary) to spend all his time in the office to save it but is deemed unworthy by the A.I. he built -- the irony's the whole point, right? This guy CAN'T save humanity.

But 1. A.I. developer dad sucks, 2. the son who most takes after him also sucks, 3. what's with the poor housekeeper being so damn traumatized? 4. why is that every time one of these rogue A.I.s says "all you people do is invent worse ways to kill each other" I start thinking "you may have a point"?
