I’m serious though; let’s not fill our feeds with more infuriatingly stupid takes. Don’t legitimize outrageous stances by giving them any of your time and energy. Stop feeding your frustration & everyone else’s when there’s no resolution possible. It’s bad as hell for your brain and you know it.

Probably a good idea. The less engagement we give to people who post inflammatory stuff online the less encouragement they’ll have to keep doing so.

Shitposting is cool, shooting the shit with friends is fine. I’m talking about the pedantic strangers, the insufferable devil’s advocates, the hopelessly media-illiterate who think their opinions should matter, the outrage farmers, literal children. Stop giving them your platform.

I fully agree and it fills me with hope to see so many others agree too… I know it will likely pass and some will give in to that temptation, but as long as we’re the majority, it’s a win.

Ker-block early, Ker-block often. :)

That’s why I’m not thinking twice about just blocking accounts. If it doesn’t bring joy, it doesn’t need to be seen on the feed. Definitely curating my bsky better than I ever did with twit

I avoid bad takes simply because, having observed human behavior for decades, it's impossible for me to not see that stuff as part of a bigger pattern. :| And when it becomes apparent, I feel like any engagement just compounds/prolongs the core problems, both for the individual and the group.

Fun fact! Because of how Bsky is built, stupid takes aren't front and center of your feeds. Blocking and ignoring starves bluechecks of oxygen. :D

I feel like the positive spins can be healthy (What Furry Take Has You Receiving Love and Universal Praise?), but even then the entire format is designed to generate engagement over actual discourse. It's always one step away from being twisted into controversy bait.

I once wrote a thread on the birdsite about how and why people should simply ignore attempts at debate over microblogging platforms and simply focus on communicating information in its own thread that educates or corrects misunderstandings without directly boosting the words or image of others
