A note to state school professors: in every state I know of, using a private email for your academic and other professional correspondence does not exempt you from state open records act requests. Even work-related text messages on a personal phone may be subject to these laws.

Ok just to clarify, using We Chat to coordinate with colleagues does not make my phone subject to open records, right? Just the conversations with colleagues.
And the other side of the coin is don’t use your university email for personal purposes, because your private bizness could get caught up in a records search too
