So many lads were labelled thick because we process information in a different way, one not suited to the standard education system. We were usually the ones singled out for "punishment".
Most of my issues with teachers related to the fact that when I had to rely on reading or listening on how to do or understand something it travelled through my ears not bothering to stop on the way. But when I was shown how to do something it stuck, that's why I became involved in building.
This line makes me so fucking mad: "Corporal punishment is legal in schools in 17 states, and approximately 160,000 children are subjected to it every year."
