I'll defend even the bluntness of Don't Look Up. What actually ruins that movie is simply that it really, truly isn't very funny. The Substance, on the other hand, has some of the greatest practical body horror effects since The Fly and The Thing.

5 episodes into the new season of Oshi No Ko. Enthralling. Fascinating. Delightful. Also feels like a completely different show.

Reading some bad takes on The Substance, and I feel the need to remind some movie fans that subtlety is merely one quality among many which an artist can attempt. Subtle is not a synonym for "good."

I never saw the original Joker movie, but I am going to see the second one. My rule against seeing superhero movies fails against my rule which says I must see the movies everybody hates.
