I just saw an Easter ad so it's time to start reminding people: LILIES ARE DEADLY FOR CATS. The leaves, the petals, the stem, even drinking a bit of vase water or licking a few grains of pollen from their fur can cause fatal kidney failure. ā ļø www.fda.gov/animal-veter....
We had put a few of our plants up to keep them away from our plant enthusiastic cat and gave ger one of her own. This didn't stop her from trying to eat the fake christmas tree. So, depending on the cat this can be really important.
Lilies can actually be harmful for people too, especially children. my kids got sick when I brought lilies home. Beautiful Flower, but beauty comes with cost it seems in this case.
Oh wow. Is this true for other pets too? (Dogs, rabbits, etc.)
And if your cat has access to the outdoors, keep it away from daylilies or asiatic lilies! It seems like every yard has daylilies these days and they are equally as toxic as Easter lilies.
Soon after we got our new kitten, my husband brought me home some flowers. Lillies. I wouldn't let them in the house. Now, he and the kids research cat safe flowers to make sure any bunch is okay š
holy crap, i'm glad i learned this
I received flowers for my birthday yesterday and if it werenāt for this timely reminder, I probably wouldāve forgotten before exposing my plant-loving void to themāshe and I both thank you!
the only good lily is a plastic lily
Unless it's lily scented ointment for people's kittys. š
Roses, sunflowers and Gerber Daisies are cat safeā¦ that does not mean that they havenāt been sprayed with pesticides, or that your cat wonāt eat part of the plant and puke it up. But they are not of themselves, intrinsically, poisonous for cats, like lilies and many other plants and flowers are.
