I think this point doesnā€™t get highlighted nearly enough - itā€™s a license to police the looks and behavior of all teenage girls, not just girls who are trans. Itā€™s awful on every level.

An officer told her "I am the law." Judge Dredd is supposed to be an over-the-top satire, people, not an example to imitate.

Thereā€™s a line in that story about crowds booing ā€œteenage athletes.ā€ Children. Theyā€™re booing children. I wish people who are ambivalent about trans rights or ā€œapoliticalā€ would stop and think about that.

Right?! Like it's high school sports. The response to any of this should be _who cares_ if a trans kid plays, let them play! This has enabled the worst kind of sports parent to terrorize girls who play sports, cis and trans, over _high school sports_

It sure isnā€™t great that any location mentioned or visited by one of the candidates for vice president of the United States turns into an embattled target of networked harassment and bomb threats in the wake of his passing

PayPal is updating their ToS to let themselves give your data to merchants starting in November and they're certainly banking on people not knowing to opt out, SO to opt out before they start: go to Settings > Data & Privacy > Manage shared info > Personalized shopping, and toggle that shit off

Screenshot of PayPal's Terms of Service update, outlining their "personalized shopping" feature where they allow themselves the right to give info about you to other companies

Catastrophic storms have crippled the stateā€™s home insurance market in the past, and some researchers say it is dangerously vulnerable.

But Keynes always wins. Austerity always loses. And the more strongly you apply Keynes, the more he wins. SHOW SOME ACTUAL POSITIVE RESULTS SOMEWHERE, FOR SOMETHING, CHICAGO/AUSTRIA/SUPPLY-SIDE NUTBAGS!

Keynes wins, austerity loses. Which means austerity will remain the default policy of all but the most liberal politicians and institutions.

I 100% thought that WA had appointed MEsā€”which EVERYONE should have, fucking FL does!ā€”after this happened. I didn't realize the bill got watered down to say counties MAY appoint a forensic pathologist, not that they MUST appoint a forensic pathologist ĀÆ\_(惄)_/ĀÆ www.spokesman.com/stories/1996...
