Isabella Briggs Meyers also wrote a eugenics murder mystery which was basically Agatha Christie's "And Then There Were None", except the murders were revealed to be a family committing suicide one by one, once they realized they had a black ancestor, because they didn't want to pollute the gene pool
Is that like, a commentary on racism, or actually racist? Are these people depicted as being right to do this? Because I'd not that actually sounds interesting and I'd like to know the name of the book.
I tried looking this up but I only see one book attributed to her "murders yet to come" which doesn't seem to have that plot. Is there another one?
Good fucking god
What's the title of this book?
I think Cecil Day-Lewis/Nicholas Blake also wrote a mystery novel with a premise that was pretty close to that too? Which 1) is too many overtly racist mystery novels and 2) makes me wonder if there was a racist urban legend circulating about something like that happening.
So..."And then there were none" crossed with HPL's "Rats in the Walls," but nowhere near as good as either and ALSO MORE RACIST THAN EITHER??? Some days it's not worth getting out of bed.
